Garway Youth Club

Over 30 years ago Les and Fay Rowland opened their house one evening a week for young people to come for friendship, games and a Christian epilogue. The young people, usually 20 to 30 each week, came not only from Garway but from a large surrounding area including as far away as Hereford and Monmouth.Youth Group Hall

A few years after the Group was started the Rowland’s were given planning permission for a building for the Garway Youth Group and they bought an ex army hut which was erected on the present site at New House Farm. The older members of the Group helped prepare the site and did all the interior decorating including papering and making curtains etc., they also helped to make the adjoining Tennis Court.

The Groups activities include table tennis, squash, tennis, snooker, chess, draughts, drama and music. They have taken part in Hereford Scripture Union’s annual competitions and have won a cup several times in recent years. This year they hold it for Drama which is very popular at the moment.

Over the years the Group have sponsored 4 little girls in various third world countries, and have done sponsored walks. The music group has given concerts for Tears Funds relief work.

Garway Youth Group is a registered Charity, and they have 8 Trustees, 4 of them were club members 30 years ago.
